Cardstream Review - Credit Card Payment Gateway
Cardstream is a low-cost payment gateway provider based in the UK that provides a credit card processing service with no setup fees. It supports most popular eCommerce shopping carts, and as an independent company, it works with all UK bank acquirers.
As well as supporting eCommerce installations Cardstream also supports MOTO (mail order/telephone order) transactions and can provide face to face PDQ Merchant Accounts.
What is unique about Cardstream is that because they are independent you are not tied to any particular Internet Merchant Account, and if you don't have an existing account, they will work with you to source the best account for your business type.
Cardstream offers Level 1 PCI: DSS compliance.
Cardstream offers direct integration where your payment pages capture the cardholder's credit card details and then forward the details to the payment gateway. The relevant security checks are performed and an authorisation or declined response sent back to your website. The customer then receives a response.
This is the most common form of payment gateway where the payment form is hosted on your behalf, so there is no need for an SSL certificate. It is a simple solution that benefits sporadic or one-time payments.
The hosted forms can be customised with a header and footer, and the entire CSS can be edited to match the look of your existing website.
Merchant Management System
Anyone who runs an eCommerce website knows that knowledge is paramount. Whether it be from Analytics or stock levels and having real-time transaction information available is a real bonus.
You get reports which give you the ability to be able to see all historical transaction information, as well as detailed transaction receipts. All transactions can be exported to .csv format for further analysis.
Access to the virtual terminal is free for all Cardstream accounts and supports multi-level access so that you can restrict administration access. This is useful where you don't want people processing refunds that should not be processed for example.
Security Checks &3D Secure
Cardstream offers Card Security Code (CV2, CSC checks) as well as address verification system to ensure that the card presenter has the authority to use the card. It also supports 3D secure. There is no additional charge for using this service.

Integrations are available for all major shopping carts including Shopify and accounting software Kashflow
Cardsense is a lesser known but capable payment processor that has many of the features provided by the more expensive Sagepay. If your eCommerce integration supports Cardsense then this is a really good choice for your store.
