Finding a niche market is the key to your success.

Many ebooks have been written on this subject and there are loads of scam sites which claim to be able to do this for you but the best way is not to do any research.

That's right. The best way is not to do any research.

95% of the internet is crap. Pure crap. Whenever I set up a new affiliate program 98% of the sites I look at that sign up are absolute dross. Rubbish shopping comparison sites, sites with horrible graphics, one page sites, sites that don't even exist. There are actually very few web sites where the owner has put a reasonable amount of effort into providing what the surfer wants.

On top of that there are very few serious and good affiliates. Roughly 2% of all affiliates that sign up for a program actually make any sales. Think about why that is.

Use your brain. It should be obvious that financial and money related sites are out of the question for a beginner. However a beginner who is DETERMINED and FOCUSED can easily become top dog if they choose a subject that they can write about fluently.

First of all you need to find a subject that you are interested in and passionate about. This is the absolute key to your success. If you choose a subject that you don't really care about then you are going to find it hard to write about it and provide the content that people expect to see.

It's absolutely incredible that there are so many diverse subjects that you can potentially make money out of.

What sort of sites can I build?

Here are the types of sites that would make ideal adsense/affiliate sites.

DO make this type of site:

Tropical fish keeping - do you have a tank at home? Are you an experienced breeder? There is a lot of scope here for producing an informative site based on the real practicalites of having a tropical fish tank. There are lots of affiliate programs for this type of site too which you can add in as you get better at the marketing side. If you have an interest in any pet keeping hobby these can all be made into really good content sites to sell advertising on.

Health Related Niche - Diet and nutrition are big business. Weight loss site? yes of course it's been done before and there are loads of them, but how many have approached the job properly? Get hold of your fattest friend and make them go on a diet. Keep a photo diary of their weight loss each day. Explain how it was done. Display the recipes and calorie count.

Adsense for food sites is not a high paying niche but lots of traffic can easily compensate for that.

Sheds/Garages - yep it may sound like an odd one but there is a huge market for shed/garage conversion information. If you've done one or maybe converted your garage into an office then hundreds of thousands of people will want to know how. You can sell advertising on this site, take leads to resell and build in an affiliate program.

Property - Peoples demand for property information is insatiable and advertising commands a good cost per click. Have you renovated a property? Explain how it was done. Explain the pitfalls and traps and you can quickly build a good revenue from this type of site. Barn conversions, flipping property and investing are all great topics.

DON'T do this type of site:

Anti Virus - This is an example of a market that is well established and has plenty of competition. Steer well clear.

Credit cards/financial - The rewards are substantial but so is the competition.

Internet Marketing - The worst subject you could choose. Every man and his dog knows how to make £14,356.00 every month.
