Building Joomla websites gives you a big advantage over the wordpress crowd because Joomla gives you a lot more freedom to express yourself. I've seen some nifty wordpress sites but in the main wordpress users have to go to extremes to produce something as versatile as a Joomla site.

The trade off is the learning curve. Mastering Joomla is a steep learning curve, This is a Ferrari to wordpress' Mondeo. They both do the job but wordpress has limitations for designing advanced affiliate sites and Joomla gets there in style with ooomph to spare. You just need to make sure you can control the beast...

Time waits for no website builder.

As affiliates it can often feel that you are always on the hamster wheel, madly chasing an ever moving target and always playing the catch up game. If you feel like that then you are certainly not alone. Most people in the IT business feel like they are always behind with the times.

The reason is that there are so many opportunities, such a varied array of different markets and money making ideas that it makes it difficult to concentrate and focus on what needs to be done.

Establishing priorities is a difficult task in itself.

Over the past month I've managed to pick up a nice couple of domain names that had not been renewed. I've started a gambling directory on the softgames.co.uk name which is a perfect name for that type of site and I've installed joomla with the link directory component on it to do the donkey work. It looks ok and we'll come back to it when it's got listed in google and starts getting a bit of traffic. Today I picked up marvelslots.co.uk which is ideal for building a nice niche site so that's another few days work there as well. Not sure what template I am going to use on that yet so there's no site for the moment.

Link building. Ah yes that old chestnut.

Everyone has an opinion on what works, what doesn't work, how Google will penalise you for gaining links, how reciprocal links are no good, three way links are redundant, four way links are the new three way, should I buy links? Should I sell links? Article distribution is no good anymore, article distribution is great. Links don't work anyway so what's the point!
