Build an Affiliate Downline

Building an affiliate downline is one of the holy grails of affiliate marketing. If you can recruit an army of resellers under your affiliate link and take a percentage of every sale they make then you can make a serious wedge for a small amount of work.

Sounds easy.

Building an affiliate downline is a natural progression and by product of building a website. The user clicks your affiliate link, they purchase a product and they like it so much they build a website about it. For every subsequent sale they make you get a small percentage of the commission.

If you can attract webmasters to sign up after clicking your affiliate links then you have a ready made sales army.

The point is that trying to start making money by building an affiliate downline is a non starter.

The only time a webmaster will click through your links and sign up is when they have been presented with a clear, logical and precise reason for doing so. In other words your website has sold them on the idea.

If you produce a drivel laden, article reprinting, badly presented site then it won't work for adsense or for affilate marketing and hence for building a downline.

Many people stick up a quick few links on a bad page and head off to the forums to promote their affiliate link. It just doesn't work. It gets seen through so easily.

The only way to build a solid affiliate downline is by producing a solid website in the first place. Remember only 2% of all affiliates actually produce any meaningful revenue. Which means that even if you have a good performing website only 2 out of every hundred webmasters you sign up are going to produce sales for you. You need a lot of those to make an affiliate downline work!

It can take two, three or even five years for an affiliate downline to start producing meaningful income for you so whilst it's a nice idea and a good goal to have, for you my reading friend you need to crack on building those pages.
