Alicia Keys.
I watched an MTV special last night featuring Alicia Keys and she was good. Real good. No wonder Bob Dylan sings on "Modern Times" that he's lately been thinking about Alicia Keys. So no prizes for guessing what we are playing on spotify today.
No cycling into work today as it's horrible weather here and though I'm committed to the cycling thing I need to get a winter bike sorted out quick as I don't fancy skating around on those skinny wheels. I always think the tyres are going to come off the rims just navigating the roundabout at a medium speed so there's no chance of me riding in the wet.
In any case I was watching the Tour of Spain a couple of weeks ago when the below happened:
Enough of the preamble. Let's get down to the nitty gritty.
Today we are customising the rockettheme.co.uk template for the new Bingo Site.
First of all we change the session lifetime in the global configuration so that we don't keep getting kicked out of the admin panel every fifteen minutes.
Next change the page title. This is well hidden away in Menus - Menu manager - Home - Parameters (system).
Then rename htaccess to .htaccess using FTP and turn on the search engine friendly URL's in site>Global configuration.
Whilst you are in the global config, change the meta titles and global site description to something more appropriate for your site.
TIP: Some FTP programs will not display hidden filenames unless you turn that option on. So if you can't find the htaccess file that's probably the cause.
Install JCE Editor which will give you more control over your content. Don't forget to install the component AND the plug in. make it the default wysiwig editor in global config.
Install Joomlapack and test that it works properly. make sure you back up your site regularly, at least once weekly.
Install Metadata Module which will make sure you have entered all of your page descriptions properly.
Now we need to do some CSS styling to make the menu colours and backgrounds blend properly. If you use Firebug like I mentioned yesterday then it will make it a much easier job.
Tomorrow we'll decide how we are going to display the reviews and set up the sections and categories.
